Fleeing from a toxic relationship turned abusive, Ru-Xin makes the cross-border departure back home to Malaysia in a time of collective uncertainty as the world grapples to recover from the global financial crisis. There, she begins to find herself in irreconcilable situations of estrangement in her homeland as she struggles to move through her new life burdened by profound loneliness and a conflicting heart. Ru-xin decides to confide in Ping Chun, the cleaning supervisor, who appears to have her life together in a cerebral response to her vivid hallucinations. Through shared experiences, Ru-xin begins to understand that her lack of belonging runs deeper than the body of her physical existence. Then on, she decides to embark on this journey of self-discovery while promising to return after doing so, hoping it would finally free her from the emotional baggage of the past.
