Police officer Ben delves into his own past to penetrate a web of traumatic memories and lies – with unexpected consequences. Ben works for the police witness protection service. After he is shot in the line of duty, his girlfriend Marion convinces him to go to the Baltic Sea together, where his parents live. Ben spent his vacations as a child here. But after his best friend Timmi had a tragic accident when he was eleven, he never went back. For many years, Ben thought Timmi died back than and felt responsible. Now, he learns that he survived and is in a waking coma. Together with Marion, Ben manages to communicate with him via an MRI procedure. He begins to reconstruct the events of that time in order to bring Timmi back to consciousness by confronting his trauma. But the deeper Ben delves into the past, the more his own world begins to falter...
