Kusno, a man of Javanese descent, visits the family of his girlfriend, Pao Pao, who is from a Totok Chinese family. When he met Akhiong, the father of Pao Pao, Kusno got a rejection from Akhiong. Even so, Kusno did not give up. Kusno tried to get Akhiong's blessing by helping to prepare for Chinese New Year at Pao Pao's house and learn about the family's culture. When Kusno was getting used to the Pao Pao family culture, a misunderstanding occurred causing Akhiong to be angry with Kusno.
