Trivia

The film was inspired by the life of the late Natalia Molchanova, the world-famous Russian champion freediver. Following her divorce, she found her love in freediving, one of the most extreme sports in the world, built on diving as deep as possible on a single breath. She later went missing during another dive and was declared dead in 2015.

The film is the first Russian feature film shot in the open sea at a hundred-meter depth. All diving scenes were filmed in the open sea off the coast of Malta.

Having a reputation as a diving hotspot, Malta is also home to hundreds of reefs, caves and ancient wrecks. There are more than a few sunken World War II ships along its coastline.
