Details
The setting is a black market that is beginning to recover from the ruins after World War II. In a burnt-out tavern, a woman makes a living by selling her body. A wide-eyed orphan boy sneaks into the burnt-out tavern in search of food, desperate to survive through the pangs of wartime hunger. A traumatized soldier stumbles into the tavern asking for a meal and a night’s stay but never pays. All three lost their family in the devastation of the war, and before long, the trio find a home in each other, forming a precious bond. However, their happiness is short-lived, as the harsh ripple effects of war threaten their abode. Ignoring the woman who tries to stop him, the orphan sets off with a black-market street vendor who offers him a job, unaware of the man’s evil motives brought on by the wounds of war.
