Jakob is still pining for his teenage love Marie, when one day he meets her again after many years. Due to a misunderstanding, Marie believes that Jakob is now a successful man. As Jakob realizes that Marie now sees him differently, he does not correct the mistake. Soon he is caught in a web of half-truths and outright fantasy. But the closer Jakob gets to winning Marie back, the more removed he is from his real self and the more alienated he is from those who like him just the way he is.
